How much can a robotaxi make in Houston?

Houston has the clearest demand signal of any Texas market. Waymo carried more than 100,000 riders under an invite gate after its February launch before dropping the waitlist entirely on August 20, 2026. People did not have to be talked into it.

The short answer

Nobody knows, and anybody who tells you they do is selling something. No privately owned Cybercab has completed a paid ride on any network, anywhere. There is no owner earnings history to average, in Houston or in any other city, so every number on this subject — including DockDuty’s — is a projection built on public estimates.

What actually runs in Houston today

What the model actually says

The only real fare number anyone has

Worth knowing what the evidence base actually is. The one published robotaxi fare in DockDuty’s own data set is Orlando, FL, where Tesla’s service has run since July 21, 2026 at $3.25 plus about $1 a mile. That is one operator, in one metro, on its own fleet — not owner economics, and not Houston. It is the honest anchor, and it happens to be the market where depot #1 is targeted.

What a Houston buyer can actually do today

There is no DockDuty depot in Houston, and none is promised. Depot #1 is targeted for Orlando in Q4 2026 and the roadmap is Florida-first, with Texas the obvious cluster after it — four driverless metros is more than any other state.
