Reading the specs like a fleet owner
The battery is small on purpose
47.6 kWh looks modest next to a long-range consumer EV, and that's the tell that this car was engineered around a different job. A robotaxi doesn't road-trip; it loops a metro and returns to a depot with charging in its schedule. A smaller pack means less cost, less weight (3,113 lbs, lighter than a Model 3), and less battery bought that the duty cycle never uses. Pair it with ~5.5 mi/kWh (among the most efficient figures ever filed) and the range still lands near 293 miles.
The range covers a full service day without a midday charge
The duty cycles we model run 180–250 miles a day (the worked P&L). Against ~293 miles of rated range, a standard day fits on one overnight-style charge with margin; a heavy day needs one topping session that slots into an idle valley: the full charging math, including the wireless-pad timings and the depot power story, is in how do robotaxis charge? 219 horsepower is plenty when nobody's showing off
A single 163 kW front motor moving 3,113 lbs is brisk by normal-car standards and entirely beside the point here: a robotaxi's driving profile is smooth, geofenced, and optimized for ride comfort and consumables. One motor also means fewer parts to maintain across a couple hundred thousand fleet miles, the metric this car will actually be judged on.
Two seats is a bet on ride data
Most ride-hail trips carry one or two riders; the Cybercab's cabin takes that pattern literally and spends the rest of the footprint on cargo space and simplicity. The fleet-owner readout: it's a vehicle for the high-frequency urban trip (airport corridors, commutes, errands) not the family-hauler segment, which Tesla serves with robotaxi Model Ys today.
No steering wheel is a legal fact, not just a design one
