Brazil in four lines

  • No robotaxi carries riders in Brazil, and we found no company testing one on public roads.
  • The law is not written yet. A bill to add autonomous vehicles to the traffic code passed one committee in 2025 and still needs the Constitution and Justice Committee and then the Senate.
  • No Tesla FSD, no official Tesla sales. Teslas in Brazil are private imports, and FSD (Supervised) is not offered.
  • No Tesla Robotaxi, no Cybercab. Tesla's driverless rides run only in the United States so far.

Searches from Brazil that reach us are mostly about the Cybercab itself: Cybercab in Orlando and Florida, how it compares with Tesla's Robotaxi, and which cities have robotaxis. This page answers the question underneath them for Brazil, which is whether any of it exists here yet. Every fact carries a date and a source. Where we could only find low-quality claims (and there are many about robotaxis in Brazil), we leave them out.

Is there a robotaxi in Brazil?

No. As of November 2, 2026, we found no robotaxi service carrying passengers and no robotaxi testing on public roads anywhere in Brazil, from Uber, 99, Waymo, Baidu or anyone else. Several websites say otherwise; none of the claims we checked traced back to a reputable report.

The closest thing is a private-site shuttle. Espírito Santo startup Lume Robotics and Vix Logística (part of Grupo Águia Branca) built an autonomous bus to carry people inside the ArcelorMittal Tubarão steel plant, on pre-mapped internal roads, which was due to start by the end of June 2026 (A Gazeta, Jun 15, 2026). It is not on public streets and does not take the public.

If you want to ride a robotaxi today, the nearest services are in the United States. Our US robotaxi map lists every US metro with public rides.

Are self-driving cars legal in Brazil?

Brazil has no autonomous vehicle law in force. Its traffic code, the Código de Trânsito Brasileiro, assumes a human driver is always the person legally responsible for controlling the vehicle (Vrum, Jul 29, 2026). The main bill to change that:

As written, the bill is about testing and driving with a trained person in charge. It does not create a licence for paid rides with nobody at the wheel. None of this is legal advice.

Is Tesla FSD or the Cybercab in Brazil?

No on both. Tesla FSD (Supervised), the driver-assistance system Tesla sells in the US, is not offered in Brazil; Vrum describes approval as unworkable without an update to the rules, because the traffic code puts a human in charge at all times (Vrum, Jul 29, 2026). Tesla also has not announced official sales in Brazil; the Teslas on Brazilian roads came in through private imports, while Tesla has set up a subsidiary next door in Uruguay (Canaltech, Jul 2, 2026).

For the Robotaxi and Cybercab, here is what Tesla has put in writing:

Can you buy or own a Cybercab in Brazil?

Not today, and not in the US either. Tesla has no public Cybercab order page, price or delivery date. When we last checked Tesla's Cybercab FAQ on October 19, 2026, it sent would-be buyers of a fleet or a single Cybercab for commercial use to an interest form. Tesla has said nothing about selling the Cybercab in Brazil. The full order status, with every update dated, is in can you buy a Tesla Cybercab yet.

What this means if you want to own a robotaxi

If you live in Brazil and want to own a robotaxi, the rules to run one for paying riders do not exist there yet, so a personally owned car earning fares is not something anyone can do in Brazil today. The places where it is closest are in the United States, where Tesla runs Cybercab rides in Austin and has said most Cybercabs will be Tesla-owned at first. Every robotaxi, whoever owns it, also needs a yard between rides to charge, get cleaned and head back out, because nobody is aboard to do it. How that works is in how robotaxis charge and robotaxi fleet management.

Where DockDuty fits

DockDuty is an independent US company building that depot layer (parking, DC fast charging, cleaning and dispatch) for individually owned robotaxis in the United States. It has no depot, site or lease in Brazil, and no DockDuty depot is operating anywhere yet. Orlando, Florida is its lead market, with the Orlando depot targeted for Q4 2026 or Q1 2027. For the owner side, start with Cybercab owners: parking, charging and care and the Cybercab ownership planner, or see the numbers in the earnings calculator and the day-to-day in the live owner demo.
